So Long, Farewell: AMD to Kill ATI Brand Name

Rest in Peace ATI Brand. AMD is killing off the name very soon. Their market research shows the AMD name is more well known then ATI. This did not work so well when Macy's killed off the famous Marshall Fields brand name but that's another industry and story altogether.

Future versions of Aladdin 4D will take advantage of powerful GPU's in ATI cards and NVIDIA cards.

NVIDIA intros 3D Vision Pro for professional workstations

In October NVIDIA will introduce new professional glasses that are said to eliminate line-of-sight and crosstalk issues that often plague IR glasses used for at-home viewing applications.
The new glasses bring “true stereo 3-D to the desktop” and provide a 150ft wireless range to RF synching. The glasses were designed for modern professional workstations and multiuser, large-scale visualization environments, such as video walls and collaborative virtual environments.

When will you Imagine?

We have been trying to do a historical/where are they now article on Imagine 3D (Amiga version) but have had a tough time tracking down the original developer. First as Silver, then Turbo Silver; Imagine was an important piece of 3D rendering/animation software on the Amiga computer and was ahead of it's time. We have now reached out to CAD Technologies and requested they let us know the current status of this long lived great Amiga 3D program.

Aladdin 4D 5.x has a new Home on DiscreetFX.com

It's been a long time coming but Aladdin 4D 5.x finally has a dedicated section on the DiscreetFX website. Aladdin 4D 6.0 when available will have it's own dedicated website not on DiscreetFX.com.

DiscreetFX's Aladdin 4D 5.x site

This site includes product information, links to video's, the A4D Blog, dedicated forum links, a future gallery and more.

We are ending the special price on the current version of Aladdin 4D 5.x / Amiga Forever 2010 Bundle. The Bundle will still be available after the introductory price is over but will just cost more.

Amiga Forever 2010 / Aladdin 4D 5.x Bundle

Aladdin 4D works great on classic Amiga's, Amiga Video Toaster based systems and especially virtual Amiga environments like Amiga Forever 2010 from Cloanto running AmiKit. In fact reviews state that rendering times for Aladdin 4D are almost instant in Amiga Virtual Machines like Amiga Forever 2010.

Aladdin 4D is the last commercial Amiga 3D animation program available that is in active development for Amiga OS 4.x, MorphOS 2.5, AROS, Mac OS X and Amiga virtual machines. This does not have to be the case though, we welcome competition and a active 3rd party community on Amiga and Amiga like systems. Your support of Aladdin 4D insures faster development of this unique program created by Greg Gorby. A4D is a great introduction to the 3D animation software industry. Anyone that purchases Aladdin 4D that buys NewTek's Emmy award winning LightWave 3D within six months gets a $50 credit towards LightWave 3D 9.x.

Rub the Lamp, Render the Magic. The smoke stops coming out of the lamp on July 30th, 2010 and this Amiga Forever 2010 / Aladdin 4D sale ends then.

Current owners of Amiga Forever 2010 can contact us with their proof of purchase to get special pricing on A4D 5.x before the sale ends via the link below.

Where Are They Now?

We have had a lot of fun bashing Windows on the Aladdin 4D forum in the past but a few of you have not enjoyed it as much and we hurt Microsoft's feelings so we are moving on to something a lot more constructive.

We are researching and starting a series covering 3D animation programs that started out on the Amiga and finding out where are they now. We will try to cover all of them minus programs that did not start out on Amiga and will conclude the series with the release of Aladdin 4D for Mac OS X. Yes it's getting closer!

The first program we will be discussing is Imagine from Impulse Inc.

MorphOS 2.5 Now Available and Supports more Hardware!

MorphOS 2.5 was released recently and supports more PowerPC Mac hardware. Press Release from MorphOS Team listed below.

"The MorphOS development team is proud to announce the public release of MorphOS 2.5, the fifth new OS version since the debut of MorphOS 2.0 in the same month two years ago. MorphOS 2.5 finally adds the Apple eMac to its list of officially supported platforms. In addition to the extended hardware support, existing users will benefit from various bug fixes and a few new features. For an overview of the included changes, please read our release notes.
We strongly urge owners of eMac computers to carefully read our installation and troubleshoot guides before they attempt to install MorphOS for the first time. Existing users can upgrade via the familiar procedure but are encouraged to read the guides as well. MorphOS 2.5 is available for download in our files section."

This information is of course important for Aladdin 4D since version 6.0 will have a native version for MorphOS. Purchase MorphOS 2.5 via the link above.
